Suara.com – Huawei ensure that it will soon present its homemade operating system, HarmonyOS, to Huawei smartphones in Indonesia in the near future.
“HarmonyOS will be coming soon to Huawei phones in Indonesia,” said Patrick Ru as Country Head of Huawei CBG Indonesia in a virtual press conference, Friday (10/9/2021).
For information, HarmonyOS is an operating system made by Huawei that is used for all electronic devices, ranging from cellphones, tablets, smartwatches, and others.
The presence of HarmonyOS itself is the impact of trade sanctions imposed by the United States on Huawei. With this, HarmonyOS will become a competitor for the Android operating system.

In Indonesia, the current HarmonyOS operating system has only appeared on the Huawei MatePad 11 tablet which was released a few months ago. Huawei promises HarmonyOS will be coming to smartphones within six months.
“In the next six months, HarmonyOS will be available on smartphone devices. In Indonesia, it’s already on the MatePad 11 tablet. So, just wait,” said Steven Pongidin as Developer Support Manager for Huawei Device Indonesia in a separate question-and-answer session.
Steven continued, Huawei’s old phones that were released earlier will also get HarmonyOS. However, they need to do further research regarding the launch date.
“In Indonesia, we make sure that old Huawei phones, especially the flagship segment, will be updated to HarmonyOS,” added Steven.
Because, said Steven, they must see how large the number of users of old Huawei phones in Indonesia, such as the Huawei P40 and Mate 40 are. For this reason, analysis is needed to determine how many HarmonyOs can reach users.

“For old devices, Huawei will certainly carry out an analysis regarding how many users are using these old phones. But if it’s a new smartphone, we can be sure that all of them will get HarmonyOS,” he explained.
