The American audio equipment manufacturer Harman International, which owns the JBL brand, has filed a lawsuit with the Moscow Arbitration Court against the M.Video-Eldorado network and the Russian company Drivix (Driviks LLC), which produces music centers under the Vipe brand.

The company seeks protection of exclusive rights to two industrial designs issued in Russia for its vertical music centers, and requires the recovery of 5 million rubles. compensation. The next meeting is scheduled for October 23rd.

Previously, Harman has already tried to prove the illegality of the use of these industrial designs. In 2021, the company, in addition to collecting compensation for the same amount, demanded that unauthorized use of equipment be stopped. The court left the claim without consideration; in November 2022, the decision stood on appeal.

In March 2022, Rospatent received objections already from Drivix, which, for its part, was trying to achieve the cancellation of patents for Harman’s controversial industrial designs. The Russian company pointed to the lack of novelty and originality. Rospatent then refused Drivix to satisfy its objections.
