Harley-Davidson, which opened the plant in the world ‘s largest motorcycle market in 2011, has faced difficulties caused by India’ s 100% tariff and cheaper local brands.
India has also experienced a slowdown in consumer demand, even before the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
India later reduced its customs tariff by 50%, but Harley-Davidson inability to stabilize in this market.
The company’s decision is a blow to Indian Prime Minister Narendr Modi, who has called on foreign companies to produce goods domestically.
