Harizanov said what will happen in our country after the convincing victory of GERB in the elections

The election campaign will be marked by personal attacks, recall of old compromising materials and possibly the removal of new ones. There will be little talk about politics and even less about ideologies, right and left decisions, libertarian economics.

This was stated in an interview with BGNES by Georgi Harizanov, political analyst and executive director of Europe TV.

Commenting on the start of the election campaign, he noted that voters will find it very difficult to see who the quality politician is.
“Maybe they will find out who is shouting the most and who is the most original in the insults, but this is not a political conversation,” he said.
Harizanov sees nothing new among the 30 political parties and coalitions fighting to enter the new parliament.

“The so-called new political projects were created by people who have been in politics for 20-30 years. The new face of the Bulgarian right is Gen. Atanas Atanasov, who is a prosecutor from Zhivkov, a man of 30 years in politics. The new face of the protesters is Maya Manolova, 20 years in politics, Tatiana Doncheva, 20 years in politics. Maybe that’s why we don’t have a sense of the new.

There are, of course, new faces, there are many quality ones, both on the part of the ruling party and on the part of the opposition, to whom I wish success, “the political analyst commented.

According to him, the turnout is not a guarantee that the elections will go smoothly and the results will be accepted by the whole society.
“Activity is an interesting thing. One of the theses is that high voter turnout gives better representation.

On the other hand, the recent US election has shown that high turnout is not in itself a guarantee that the election will go smoothly and be recognized by the public. There, with record high turnout, there is a brutal division and non-recognition of the election by almost half of the voters. I do not expect high voter turnout in Bulgaria.

In recent years, activity around the world has been progressively declining. People are becoming more apolitical, more and more staring at their own existence, “said Georgi Harizanov and added that he expects the activity in our country to be around or a little over 40%.

He believes that none of the parties, with the exception of GERB and MRF, has an interest in the country entering a spiral of continuous elections.
“You see the processes in the BSP – the split and the constant scandals. You see the problems in Slavi Trifonov’s party as well.

“Democratic Bulgaria” is one of those coalitions that do not have a party subsidy, they find it difficult to finance their existence and campaign. If there are next elections, it is clear for whom they are beneficial, “Harizanov said.

He stressed that if GERB wins against the BSP, with a serious enough difference, the next elections, to a large extent, would be meaningless.
The interesting thing will happen the day after the elections.

“The only sure thing at the moment is that GERB will be the first political force, everything else is shrouded in fog. The question is what follows from the fact that GERB is the first political force and what will happen after the elections. April 5 is more interesting to me. No surprises are expected on April 4, “the analyst said.

At the moment we are in a situation where everyone is against GERB, but in case of their victory, it will become quite different.
“If GERB becomes the first political force, it means that the majority of Bulgarian voters continue to vote confidence in this party, with this leader, and that no one is able to be liked more, with more trust and more support, which turns the conversation entirely to GERB, “said Harizanov.

According to him, the only intrigue is how many party members will enter the new National Assembly – whether the formation around Maya Manolova and IMRO will manage to jump the 4% barrier and whether we are talking about a five or seven-party parliament.

Harizanov is convinced that if IMRO enters the new parliament, the perspective of the conversation will be different. At the moment, Ataka, Veselin Mareshki and Valeri Simonov remain outside parliament.
