Haris Azhar and Fatia Maulidiyanti claimed to have sent a letter to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Luhut Binar Pandjaitan after being given a second summons. The letter contains an invitation for discussion to discuss differences of opinion regarding the alleged slander and defamation of Luhut.
“The communication was just right when we answered the second subpoena, we also said that we were willing to meet and even invited them to discuss the differences in views on this issue,” said Haris and Fatia’s legal team, Al Ayyubi Harahap, after making a complaint to Komnas HAM, Thursday (23/9/2021).
“If there is miscommunication information there, different perspectives, of course it should be discussed in a direct meeting,” he continued.
Ayyubi said the invitation letter had been sent and Luhut responded. However, Luhut did not come on the D day.
“We have sent the invitations to them, but they did not come. They responded to our invitation letter, but it was also unclear whether they came or not, but in the end they did not come on the D-day,” he said.
Ayyubi revealed the response from Luhut’s side regarding the invitation letter. He said Luhut’s side asked Haris Azhar and Fatia to apologize and took down a video containing remarks that were deemed slanderous and defamed Luhut.
“Their answer is basically they say we will not change in this position, we will stick to our answer asking that Haris Azhar and Fatia apologize and will not repeat that act and take down video,” he said.
Meanwhile, still at the same location, Fatia said there was one of the speeches at issue in the video chat. The words in question Fatia said, were the words ‘play’.
“As has been circulating in the media just, what is at issue is the word ‘play’,” he added.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan officially reported Haris Azhar and Fatia Maulidiyanti to Polda Metro Jaya on suspicion of defamation. Luhut has a special message for both of them to be chivalrous by apologizing.
“Be chivalrous by apologizing when you feel you have made a mistake, either through actions or words,” said Luhut in his personal Instagram account, Wednesday (22/9).
Luhut’s report is registered with the number: STTLP/B/4702/IX/2021/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA, 22 September 2021. Luhut reported Haris Azhar and Fatia regarding the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE).
Luhut’s report to Haris Azhar and Fatia began with content on YouTube entitled ‘There is a Lord Luhut Behind Intan Jaya’s Economic Relations-Military Ops!! General BIN Also There!!’. Luhut’s party denied the content contained in the video.
