LERKENDAL (Dagbladet): On Friday, Åge Hareide showed up for his first working day at Lerkendal. The day started with a joint lunch at Brakka before it was time for the first training session in Trondheim since 2003.
The comments were loose and the smile was wide. It was an Åge Hareide who had obviously been looking forward to starting the work of turning the Rosenborg schooner.
– It was nice, it was nice. I have not been in the field since November last year, so therefore I stayed extra long today. It is nice to keep up with this here, says Hareide to Dagbladet about the session which lasted 30 minutes longer than planned.
That the 66-year-old was happy to be back on the training field was easily visible to all those present. He says it has simply been a miss.
– Yes, that was it. I like this here extremely well, working with players and getting things done. That’s nice, says Hareide.

– Exciting
It was not only Hareide who was happy to get started again, the players have also been excited and looking forward to getting the new coach in place.
– It was exciting. It’s good to get started. We have had a few days off, so we have waited a bit and since the appointment was ready it has been a while so I think everyone is excited and looking forward to getting wind in the sails again, says goalkeeper André Hansen after participating in the game sequence at training after the groin injury he suffered in mid-July.
Another player who has struggled a bit with injuries is Pål André Helland. Already after the first session with Hareide at the helm, the injured wing has noticed several things in the moldenser’s coaching style.
– He is very clear on how he wants it. Fantastic charisma, authority and it shines through that he is very good. He has the players’ ears to put it that way, so we look forward to getting it out on the field when we get hold of it over time, Helland tells Dagbladet.
– My daughter got corona
– Hovent knee
Per Ciljan Skjelbred was in his time taken into the national team heat by Hareide, when the Moldanser was Norwegian national team manager. 12 years later, he gets the 66-year-old back as boss and the former Hertha professional still has a lot to learn from Hareide according to himself.
RBK boss: – Terribly uncomfortable to kick Kåre
– For me when I was so young, it was very great to be on the national team. You had a lot of respect for players and coaches, and were just happy to be there and learn and absorb as much information and football as you can and that is what I am doing now as well, says Skjelbred.

Åge Hareide was connected to Rosenborg as soon as Eirik Horneland was fired at the end of June. Both parties wanted to unite, but an operation in Hareide’s knee put everything on hold. But now Hareide can assure any worried Rosenborg supporters that the knee is just fine again.
– The knee works fine. It’s just a little swollen, otherwise it’s ok. I know nothing, so it works well, concludes the 66-year-old from the city of roses.
