LONDON – England National Team forced to fight for extra time against Denmark in the semifinals Euro 2020. Harry Maguire and his teammates faced stiff resistance from the first half.
However, The Three Lions -the nickname of the English national team – have the right to advance to the final after a narrow 2-1 win over Denmark. The two goals for England were created by own goals from Simon Kjaer (39′) and Harry Kane (104′). Meanwhile, the only Danish goal scored by Mikkel Damsgaad in the 30th minute.
The course of the match
First round
Playing at Wembley Stadium, London, Thursday (8/7/2021) early morning WIB, the England national team players seemed to play more confidently. Raheem Sterling and his teammates did not hesitate to press directly from the early minutes of the match.
However, The Three Lions’ first chance was only created in the 13th minute. Kane who welcomes Sterling’s pass intends to continue it into a goal.
Unfortunately, the ball is still slightly wide to the right side of the field. A few minutes later it was Denmark’s turn to press. Luckily for England, Jordan Pickford was still on the right side to block the ball.
Denmark managed to take the lead thanks to Mikkel Damsgaard’s free kick in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, the dynamite team’s advantage did not last long after Simon Kjaer scored an own goal in the 39th minute. The score 1-1 for both teams lasted until the break.
Second round
Entering the second half, England and Denmark were involved in attacking each other again. Kasperd Hjulberg’s landing team again managed to provide a threat to the host’s defense.
However, the British who continued to receive did not remain silent. They also managed to create a number of opportunities although they have not managed to become a goal.
