Change keeps things exciting, doesn’t it? The makers of ‘The Perfect Picture‘ must have thought so too, because in the ninth season – for the first time in the program’s history – a candidate goes home directly in the first episode. The reason? The judges can save a photographer in a later episode if he has had a bad week.

“Of course it’s a shame if you’re out right away”

In the previous eight seasons, the first episode was often for practice and getting into it. No matter how low your points were, there was always a second chance. That is not the case in this ninth series so there is already a lot at stake for the candidates. “Of course it’s a shame if you’re out right away,” Claes Iversen responds to the call of presenter Tijl Beckand.

What is known is the first job. The candidates have to make pictures of each other in pairs. They have to promise each other the career they would like to pursue in the past. For example, Claes wanted to be a baker and Antoinette Hertsenberg wanted to be a school teacher.

Jury members William Rutten and Cynthia Boll are delighted with the first pictures. “They all did something right,” says Cynthia. “And no blurry pictures,” said William. But three stages had failed, for Loiza Lamers, Floris Göbel and Amara Onwuka. Lex Uiting, on the other hand, gets the highest rating.

The second assignment is about still life photography. Each applicant will receive a stuffed bird. They have to build a set around it and then try to get the best shot possible. With the pressure of not wanting to be the first to go home, the candidates will do their best to complete the assignment.

Loiza gets the highest mark in the second task, and she got the lowest mark in the first task. In the end Lex has the highest average with a grade of 7.3. Floris has to leave the battle scene after one episode. “I’m really sad. To be honest, I can’t believe I’m out before it even starts. I’m really going home feeling unsatisfied. But we’re not going to stop, we’re going to do it. keep going,” concluded the animal expert.

The Perfect Picture I see you every Wednesday at 8:30 pm on RTL 4. Don’t miss the program? You can watch it again at Videoland.
