The open-air concert season of Spīķeri quarter will be opened by Haralds Sīmanis and the group “Stūrī Zēvele”
Riga, July 26, LETA. Singer Haralds Sīmanis and the music group “Stūrī zēvele” will take the stage on July 28 at the opening of the open-air culture program in Spīķeri quarter.
As Elīna Gobalova, a representative of Spīķeri Quarter, informed LETA, the event takes place during the concert series “Peace”, which is going to the audience in Spīķeri Quarter for the second year, offering to get acquainted with the creative activity of Latvian alternative music scene and indulge in unaccustomed music.
On Wednesday, around 19.10, Sīmanis and the accompanying group will climb onto the Spīķeri stage, while around 20.20 association “Corner zēvele” will take the stage.
Gobalova noted that Sīmanis is a Latvian singer who is a roofer by profession. The artist has not acquired a musical education, but has learned to play the guitar and organ through self-study. In the 1970s, Sīmanis began collaborating with Arvīds Ulmi, whose poetry is still used in his songs. The musician has released several albums. One of his most popular compositions is the ballad “Lake”, which he performed in 1980 at the closing concert of the “Microphone Song Survey” and after this performance, the artist gained recognition.
The association “Stūrī zēvele” was established in 2006 by schoolmates in Kuldīga. Later, when the group’s active activity moved to Riga, its composition has changed several times. Currently, the group has five members – Elizabete Milta, Klāvs Lauls, Justīne Kuzņecova, Maija Ušča and Uldis Gedra. The band has released three studio albums – “Good Morning!”, “Good Day” and “Good Evening”.
Visitors will be required to present an identity document at the entrance together with a valid Covid-19 vaccination or disease certificate.
