Happy to have TWK, Democrats Propose Similar Tests at the Police-AGO

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Member of Commission III of the DPR from Democratic Faction, Benny K Harman proposed that the national insight test (TWK) be held at the National Police, attorney General’s Office (AGO), to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham).

“I am very happy that there is a TWK, a national insight test at the KPK. If possible, the prosecutor’s office, the police, and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the same thing is done. And there must also be a budget here. If possible,” Benny said at a Commission III meeting, here Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta on Monday (7/6).

Benny said that the TWK held at the Police, the Attorney General’s Office and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights was certainly not to fire certain people. According to him, the TWK aims to form professional employees in each of these institutions.

“Of course the intention is not to fire or dismiss those who don’t like us, but really to carry out their functions professionally. So that there is militancy,” he said.

Responding to the proposal, the Deputy Chief of Police, Commissioner General Gatot Eddy Pramono, stated that the TWK had actually been held when someone took the Bhayangkara Corps entrance test.

“Then it was also about how to test national insight. Actually, every member of the National Police has already had this test, sir,” said Gatot.

Gatot said that his party had never made a special budget for TWK. According to him, similar tests have been included in every basic education to promotion.

“In every education there is already (TWK) as well as for promotions it has been included in the professional development of Polri members,” he said.

The TWK polemic occurred in the KPK after 75 employees were declared not to have passed the process held in the context of changing their status to ASN. They have been deactivated since early May 2021 until today.

Of the 75 employees, 51 employees were declared ‘red’ and could no longer join the KPK. Meanwhile, 24 other employees can still become ASN as long as they want to be retrained through education and training to defend the country.
