Kevin De Bruyne chosen to be the best player Premier League this season. This is the second title for the midfielder Manchester City in the last three seasons.
This decision was announced directly by the Premier League’s official website, Saturday (21/5/2022). De Bruyne was elected by a public vote combined with ratings from 20 Premier League captains and a panel of football experts.
The 30-year-old beat the likes of his own team-mate, Joao Cancelo, then there was Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur). ), and James Ward-Prowse (Southampton).
“Winning this award for the second time is an achievement that I am proud of,” said De Bruyne, who has 15 goals and seven assists this season.
De Bruyne equals Thierry Henry (2004, 2006), Cristiano Ronaldo (2007, 2008) and Nemanja Vidic (2009, 2011) who have won the award more than once. De Bruyne’s first award was won in 2020.
This achievement will be even sweeter if Manchester City is able to close the season as champions. Currently, Pep Guardiola’s squad is at the top with 90 points from 37 matches. They will host Aston Villa in the last week, Sunday (22/5/2022).
