PRECIOUS-BLOOD. The 67 pupils of the Boutons d’Or school spread joy in all Précieux-Sang thanks to the project “The distributors of happiness”. This week, all residents of this sector of the City of Bécancour received a card from them, slipped into their Publi-Sac.
The reactions were quick to multiply: “Many of them call the school to tell us that we have done their day. They talk about it on Facebook and even send us cards, ”says kindergarten teacher Nancy Santerre, initiator of the project with the help of all her colleagues.
Last year, as part of this project, the students made friends with the residents of the hostel located in front of their school. “We were going to do songs, shows, play bingo with the residents,” says Ms. Santerre. When the pandemic arrived, we could no longer have contact with them, but we always continued to distribute cards or mail to them. ”
This year, the students decided to expand their distribution of happiness to the entire population of the Précieux-Sang sector, aware that the pandemic could undermine the morale of some. They told themselves that everyone, especially those who are alone at home, should know that someone, somewhere, was thinking of them.
So, for Valentine’s Day, the children rolled up their sleeves and each made four cards: one for each of the 183 residences of Précieux-Sang, and one for each of the residents of the home. Other good deeds will follow at Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and at the end of the school year, to mark the arrival of the holidays.
To help finance the project, the school approached the Caisses Desjardins. She obtained a scholarship which enabled her to buy DIY materials and to finance the distribution of works produced by the children.
