[스트레이트뉴스 신용수기자] Hanwha Group announced on the 4th that it has successfully completed the ‘2020 Happy Sunshine Campaign’, an eco-friendly social contribution activity that provides free solar power generation facilities to social welfare facilities across the country.
To actively practice social responsibility management (ESG), Hanwha recruited targets for support through the Boreumgan Group website from October 12 last year, and finally selected 29 social welfare facilities through document review and on-site inspection.
Also, from December last year to the end of last month, Hanwha built solar power generation facilities with a total capacity of 173 kilowatts (kW) in 29 facilities. 173kW is the electricity capacity that 57 households can use.
Park Jong-jin, secretary general of Sojeon’s social welfare corporation located in Muan, Jeollanam-do, said, “It is a facility that is large and operates 24 hours a day.
In addition, Hanwha conducted eco-friendly energy education for 130 children and 6 children and adolescents out of 29 social welfare facilities.
The Happy Sunshine Campaign, which started in 2011, is the representative eco-friendly social contribution program of Hanwha Group that installs and donates solar power generation facilities free of charge to social welfare facilities. Hanwha Q CELLS participates in supplying and installing photovoltaic products, and supports follow-up management such as maintenance, including facility safety inspection, and power generation monitoring activities.
Over the past 10 years, Hanwha has installed 2187kW solar power generation facilities for free at 320 social welfare facilities nationwide. This is a capacity that can be used by about 720 households, which is equivalent to the effect of reducing 507 tons of carbon dioxide emissions and the drinking water effect of about 910,000 20-year-old pine trees.
An official of Hanwha Group said, “We will continue to do our best to raise awareness of eco-friendly energy through the Happy Sunshine campaign, and to help reduce operating costs and energy independence of social welfare facilities in need.”
