Even if it was a tough fight, in the end the Saale Bulls Halle won relatively sure in Erfurt and increased their lead in the Oberliga Nord over the play-free Tilburg Trappers to four points. They in turn feel the breath of defending champion Hannover Scorpions, who are only one point behind, on their necks.
Behind them, in positions four to six, is a trio led by Leipzig. Directly behind the Indians and finally Hamburg. They have to be careful, however, because since the Herner torfabrik has been fully producing again, the green-whites are on a chase. And they have one game less than the Hanseatic League. While Herford is currently in eighth place, there is a neck-and-neck race between the two men from Erfurt and Rostock. And EG Diez-Limburg is also not out of the race with five points and two games behind. For Essen, Krefeld and Hamm, however, it gets harder from week to week if they still want a pre-play-off chance.

A relatively clear victory for the Scorpions, which is particularly due to goalkeeper Brett Jaeger. Jaeger, a little out of shape in the last few weeks, came back brilliantly and shone with a 96.7 percent catch rate. This made him the tower in the surf, because the Scorpions were visually slightly superior, but had to fend off the Hamburg counterattack again and again. The favorite staggered but didn’t fall. The Bulls owe the fact that the trip to Erfurt did not go bankrupt above all to their keeper Jakub Urbisch and Eric Steffen. Steffen came to the second third for the presumably injured Urbisch, kept a third top to show nerves in the final minutes. Nevertheless, it was enough for 86 percent and in the end the Bulls, who had their best player in Joonas Niemelä, had the necessary three points on their credit account. The Black Dragons, on the other hand, will be annoyed that they lacked the callousness in front of the opposing goal that made the league leader and thus the small difference.

In the end, it was a definite defeat for the mosquitoes, which they did not deserve. By the 58th minute of the game they were only 1: 2 behind against the favorites, then had to give up the defensive and were severely punished with two empty net goals. The best scorers on the Leipzig side were Ian Farrell and Michael Burns, who each managed two assistants.

And once again the goalkeeper made the difference. In fact, the result looks more than clear afterwards, but the shot ratio was only 37:30. And that means that Björn Linda, the green wall in the HEV gate, was the big problem for the fighting strong Rostockers. Linda hexed like in the best of times and was able to get a 96.7 percent catch quota in the end, while on the other hand Luca di Berardo (75 percent) and Lukas Schaffrath (66.7 percent) hardly met top division claims. Outstanding on the Herne side Nils Liesegang with five points (only assist) and Tomi Wilenius and Dennis Swinnen, who each scored four points. The last strong Kevin Orendorz and Marcus Marsall held back, but scored five of the ten Miners goals. On the piranha side, the recently strong contingent players could not distinguish themselves, or they were cleverly taken out of the game by the Herners.

And the marmot greeted each other in Hamm every day. Not because the polar bears were sleepy, but because they were able to compete against one of the favorites again. After all, they covered the opposing goalkeeper David Böttcher-Miserotti with three times ten shots on goal and kept this 93.3 percent catch rate. His counterpart Marvin Nickel was able to take home 90.5 percent despite the four goals conceded. A great achievement. Hamm also kept up with the specialists. In the power play they got a 25 percent quota, the guests 33 percent. Annoying for the polar bears that Michel Maaßen got himself a fiver at the beginning of the second period, because during this time the Indians increased to 2: 0 and as soon as Maaßen was out of the penalty box, they also increased to 3: 0. In the 36th minute, Hamms Weißleder caused a penalty that Kyle Gibbons only hit the post. It was this Gibbons who, in the 52nd minute of all times, dashed the polar bear’s hopes for a point win with a shorthander. The best guest player was again fit Mike Mieszkowski with three points. Krefelder EV U23 – Herford EV 1: 9 (1: 2, 0: 4, 0: 3)
The people of Krefeld will probably dream of this trio for a long time to come. The Herford B-Trio (Bombis, Begovs, Biezais) pushed through the Krefeld defensive lines like Michael Myers in various horror films. The three won no less than 19 points out of a possible 27 and because this trio was not already too strong for the KEV defense, there was a fourth in the Herford League: Ralf Rinke. He got another five points, so it was no wonder that the home side didn’t get a skate on the home ice after their early lead. In this form, the Herford team are a clear candidate for eighth place, while the play-off move is almost gone for the Krefeld team.
