Ex-RB player Hannes Wolf is leaving Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach after three and a half years and moving to New York City FC in the North American professional league MLS. According to the US club, the 24-year-old Austrian will receive a contract until 2027 with an option for another season.
Wolf played 62 Bundesliga games for Gladbach (four goals). “For various reasons, including several injuries, Hannes was never able to play the role at Borussia that both sides would have wanted,” said sports director Roland Virkus.
Hannes Wolf in Gladbach: only 18 appearances
The left winger initially moved to VfL from RB Leipzig on loan in the summer of 2020. He was signed permanently for the 2021/22 season, but was loaned out to Swansea City in the second half of the season. Back in Mönchengladbach, Wolf made 18 Bundesliga appearances last season, but he has not played a competitive game for the Foals in the current season.
