Hawaii Woman Spotted Crossing into Mexico After Vanishing from LAX
Tragedy has struck the family of Hannah Kobayashi, a 30-year-old woman who disappeared last month after arriving at Los Angeles International Airport. Just days after her concerned family reported her missing, authorities revealed that video footage shows Kobayashi crossing into Mexico near Tijuana between November 12 and 13.
While this new information sheds light on Kobayashi’s movements, it has done little to quell the mounting anxiety surrounding her disappearance. Police have assured the public that there is no evidence of foul play; however, her sudden absence and cryptic messages before going silent have left many questions unanswered.
"She’s an adult and she can choose to be missing," stated one senior law enforcement official, emphasizing that detectives remain hopeful Kobayashi will make contact to confirm her safety and voluntary departure.
Kobayashi’s family last heard from her on November 10 via text messages. "[She] said she had returned to LAX to try to get on another flight to New York, and family members characterized some of the text messages as, ‘strange,’ before losing contact," her aunt Laire Pidgeon revealed. "Messages saying she did not feel safe, she was worried about people stealing her money, it was after that those strange messages she went dark."
Adding to the family’s distress, Kobayashi’s father, Ryan, tragically took his own life near LAX on November 24, while traveling from Hawaii to aid in the search for his daughter. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the death as a result of multiple blunt force traumatic injuries.
Prior to his passing, the LAPD had mistakenly reported Kobayashi as being 23 years old, a discrepancy that angered the family who asserted they were not informed of the police chief’s public statement before it was made.
During their search, police tracked Kobayashi’s movements to the Grove shopping center and a Metro train station near Crypto.com Arena, where security footage appeared to show her in a vulnerable state. "It is evident that Hannah does not appear to be in good condition and she is not alone," the family stated.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information on Kobayashi’s whereabouts to come forward. The hope remains that she will be located safe, and the reasons behind her actions will become clearer.
