[에너지데일리 변국영 기자] Korea District Heating Corporation has launched a’CCUS (carbon capture, use, and utilization) project using microalgae’.

On the 22nd, Hannan signed a joint cooperation agreement with Korea University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and Live Financial for’CO2 reduction using microalgae and commercialization of expensive materials’.

‘CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, Utilization) Technology for Microalgae’ uses the photosynthetic action of microalgae (microorganisms) to process CO2 emitted from power plants or district heating heat sources, and multiply expensive substances (medicine, health food , Feed, biodiesel, etc.).

Hannan supports microalgae light culture infrastructure facilities, biomass supply and related technology development, Korea University supports microalgae light culture and source technology for the production of derived biomass, and Live Financial supports the supply and demand of all biomass produced. Technical support such as light culture will be provided.

Hannan is expected to actively implement the government’s 2050 Carbon Neutral and Green New Deal policies as well as promote innovative eco-friendly greenhouse gas projects by cooperating with academia and pharmaceutical industries for technology commercialization.

An official from Hannan said, “If the eco-friendly business model promoted through this agreement proceeds smoothly, the foundation for a business model for reducing greenhouse gas emissions that produces high-priced materials as well as drastic CO2 reduction will be established.” “We will take the lead in realizing a low-carbon and eco-friendly society by actively implementing the 2050 carbon neutral policy.”
