Hanna Verboom quit acting a few years ago because she wanted to do work that gives her more social meaning. She talks to The Telegraph that this is partly due to her education as a child of development workers.
“I still think it is great fun to do,” said Verboom about the acting, for which she still gets offers. “But partly because of my education – I grew up in Kenya, Uganda and Sudan, where my parents worked as development workers – I wanted to do work that really has an impact on society.”
Verboom is still active in the film world. “I started directing short films and documentaries for National Geographic,” said the 36-year-old former actress. “Five years ago I set up Cinetree, a video streaming service that works just like Netflix.”
Verboom has been engaged since November 2018 and mother of a daughter since June. Her wedding plans are on the back burner, she says. “There is going to be a wedding. The only question is when.”
