Shaker to the present audience: “My presence with you is sweeter than receiving my wages a million times.”
The Egyptian artist, Hani Shaker, was subjected to fraud, on Monday, at his last concert in Bahrain, after the contractor escaped without paying the artist and his band’s wages. However, Shaker decided to sing to the present audience despite these difficult circumstances, in which many apologise.
The fugitive contractor at the last minute also did not pay the dues of the hotel that hosted the party during Eid al-Fitr, according to what the Kuwaiti media, Fajr Al-Saeed, tweeted.
Al-Saeed published several posts on “Twitter” and “Instagram” with a copy of the contractor’s passport, and confirmed that the contractor fled without paying dues to all parties, and said that she had booked 20 tickets for the party, and was able to recover their price from the contractor’s partner, asking the Bahraini Ministry of Interior to investigate the incident.
Al-Saeed praised Shaker’s “Jamal Akhalaq” and his insistence on singing without pay, as a commitment to the audience’s presence in front of him, and commented on his position by saying: “The great is great, Professor,” and “an artist from the beautiful time.”
According to the Bahraini newspaper, Al-Ayyam, Shaker performed the concert at the Gulf Hotel, and presented a collection of his best songs.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Shaker addressed the audience present: “I respect your presence with me very, very much, despite the strange circumstances that happened to me and my band at this concert, and the contractor’s escape and his failure to pay me and the band our wages, but my presence with you is sweeter than receiving my wages a million times.”
Amid the cheers and applause of the audience loving Shaker, the Egyptian artist promised his audience: “We will spend the best evening with the best audience in the world, and Happy New Year.”
