Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra’s first “Master” series concert performed with majestic sound that echoed along the Qiantang River
Recently, the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra held the first “Master” series concert of the new music season at the Hangzhou Grand Theater. The concert was called “Majestic Sound” and the tunes were mainly majestic, brilliant and broad. The Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra invites foreign musicians to perform together. On the stage are the famous Iranian conductor and composer Alexander Rahbari and the German piano master Gerhard Opiz.
At the performance, Rahbari and the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra first collaborated to perform Beethoven’s “Egmont” Overture. This is one of Beethoven’s few attempts at drama. The theme of heroism fits Beethoven’s personality and also embodies the spiritual theme of Beethoven’s music – the people’s firm revolutionary belief will surely win.
Immediately afterwards, pianist Opitz took the stage and joined hands with Hang Ai to bring Beethoven’s famous “Emperor”. As the largest of all Beethoven’s piano concertos, the Piano Concerto No. 5 in E flat major (Op. 73) has the nickname “Emperor” and is also known as the “King of Concertos”, both in terms of creative background and In terms of melody structure, this work is full of majestic kingly style.
Pianist Opitz is regarded as one of the most gifted and talented pianists of our time, with profound insights into Beethoven’s works. At the scene, Opitz, with his head full of white hair, weaved unique variations of the melody during his passionate dialogue with the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, conquering the ears of the audience with his full-bodied notes.
In the second half, conductor Rahbari continued to command the majestic “Heroes” at his best. The heroic spirit of this Symphony No. 3 in E flat major (Op. 55) that has been passed down to this day has always infected and inspired generations of classical music fans.
Rahbari is a world-renowned conductor who was born in Iran. He was favored by the legendary conductor Karajan, won the gold medal in the International Youth Conductor Competition in Besançon, France, and the silver medal in the Geneva Conducting Competition. He has conducted the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, France There are more than 120 symphony orchestras including the National Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Dresden State Orchestra and other world-renowned orchestras. Rahbari’s performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in Iran became the most influential event for Iranian orchestras in thirty years.
As an oriental conductor, Rahbari led the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra and presented a Beethoven night full of German flavor to the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra with artistic charm unique to the East.
