JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said Indonesia likes to import goods. In fact, clothes hangers are also imported from other countries.
He put forward this point in front of lecturers from various universities in the virtual broadcast of the National Defense Institute (Lemhanas).
“For example, we are still importing, you can imagine our hangers still import. I said to LKPP (Government Procurement Policy Agency), what are you doing it’s all imports. Just tell me to make it in the country. That’s not it rocket sains. Why can’t it? “He said Friday (23/10/2020).

Furthermore, said Luhut, Indonesia has often been dependent on natural resources for decades. Therefore, the government is trying to reduce the exploitation of nature.
“Our natural wealth has always been dependent on it for decades, now we don’t want it like this anymore. We want to add value added, create jobs, technology, then also taxes and value added to all of us, “he said.
Not only that, Luhut also revealed that many ministries / agencies (K / L) when making government purchases are actually used to import goods.
“So we have Rp 200 trillion in funds for spending programs like this. Many ministries / agencies (K / L) only import, do not use domestic products. It’s a take of live, so this opportunity we do all,” he said.

Luhut added that the government is trying various ways to suppress and reduce import activities. For example, promoting spending on domestic products, processing natural resources such as coal to be managed domestically.
“We are carrying out reforms to make Indonesia more efficient, creating 2.9 million jobs every year as did the President yesterday. So sometimes many people don’t see it and think it’s all wrong. So this is the data that I convey all,” he said.
