Armed with shovels, picks, wells and a thousand examples of pseudostrobus, the participants were the first in a program that still seeks the participation of the public who can donate a pin or help in the reforestation of the damaged area.

The Director of Agricultural Production Research Center (CIPA), Dr. Nelson Manzanares, the dependency to which the Forest School belongs, led this first day of reforestation that seeks to reverse the damage and conserve the soils.

Sponsors and reforestation helpers wanted

After the CIPA specialist fires, the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR) and the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) evaluated the damage and made a conservation and reforestation strategy.

Pablo Chávez, representative of SEMARNAT, commented that returning to the Bosque Escuela, the alma mater where he studied, and seeing areas devastated by fire, gives him sadness, but at the same time hope that with the support of thousands of hands the forest will return in some years.

María Teresa Flores, representative of CONAFOR, commented that after the fires the main thing was the diagnosis of the area. And that despite having been a very severe fire, fortunately the floors were not so damaged.

“We have to work on the soil, on its structure and composition. We want to start by reforesting five hectares. It is not easy because we do not have the production of plants to reforest the fifteen hectares ”, commented María Teresa Flores, representative of CONAFOR.

Today the Forest School needs everyone’s support. If you would like to financially sponsor a baby or help plant specimens, you can contact CIPA at 8329 · 4000 at extension 1440 or write to [email protected].
