OnePlus is reportedly working on its newest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro which is potentially expected to be launched a little earlier than usual, namely in mid-March 2021. As far as that is known, aside from the credible chatter, OnePlus is also rumored to be releasing the OnePlus 9E. .
Yes! This means that next year there will be three initial models that OnePlus will introduce. And recently, there is a leak that is quite interesting for us to find out. Apparently, the prototype unit of the OnePlus 9 5G is in the wild and has been engaging in close-up live photo sessions.
Intrigued by the prototype of the device? Let’s start this journey by looking at the back of the smartphone. There is a three main camera arrangement consisting of two large lenses and one smaller lens. It also comes with an LED flash.
Obviously, this device fits perfectly with the leaks so far that it is reported that the vanilla OnePlus 9 5G model will have three main cameras on the back. As far as rumors are concerned, the Pro model is an attractive one in the camera department, with an additional fourth unit still mysterious.
So, what about the main camera configuration of the OnePlus 9? Leaks that have circulated on the internet suggest that the OnePlus 9 5G may have a 48 MP main camera alongside a 16 MP ultra-wide lens. While the third unit of the lens is reported to be 12 MP or 4 MP.
Before we move to the front of the device, you might be wondering about the weird logo printed on the back of the prototype unit. These are basically placeholders, where most smartphone manufacturers have their own feel and way of marking prototypes in such a way.
Shifting towards the front, the OnePlus 9 5G looks a lot like its predecessor, the OnePlus 8T. This includes a 6.55-inch FullHD +, 120Hz, HDR, and 20: 9 flat-screen panel. The bezels all around look pretty thin, but aren’t a noticeable improvement over their predecessors.
The same source also reports that the frame on the OnePlus 9 5G is metal, possibly aluminum. All buttons and ports seem to be in their usual places. The OnePlus Alert Slider button remains the underlying module on the device.
A sturdy looking rubber seal on the single nanoSIM card tray is also embedded. As far as we all know, OnePlus seems to be sticking to the old habit of ignoring the official IP ratings for the vanilla OnePlus 9, while still offering them to some degree in practical terms.
Perhaps the only one that officially gets the waterproof protection stamp is the OnePlus 9 Pro model. The leak also says that the OnePlus 9 5G will have 8GB of RAM, 128GB of non-expandable internal storage and will run Android 11 with OxygenOS on top.
Last, but not least, the remaining screenshots of the OnePlus 9 5G unit show the main highlight in the “lahaina” chipset, which is the code for the latest Snapdragon 888. Yes! A pretty interesting surprise, considering that the OnePlus 9 Pro spotted a few weeks ago runs on the Snapdragon 875.
In addition, this unit refers to itself as “LE2117”. Having said that, keep in mind that this is a prototype unit with the proper OS build. Even though everything mentioned looks quite believable, there is always the possibility that the information could change when OnePlus officially confirms.
