The staff from Offenbach’s Sana Clinic protested against the termination of the service staff and the state of care.
No unemployed colleagues. ”“ No taking off and vacation. ”“ Health is not a commodity. ”Employees at the Sana Clinic in Offenbach wrote these and other sentences on a white cube with felt-tip pens on Wednesday. Around 100 people gathered on the grounds of the clinic between noon and 2 p.m. On the one hand, to protest against the planned layoffs of employees of the subsidiary DGS pro service GmbH. On the other hand, to draw attention to the unsustainable working conditions on the day of care.
They received support and solidarity from Mayor Felix Schwenke (SPD), who spoke of a fatal signal during the coronavirus pandemic. “Keep standing together so that it doesn’t just remain an excitement, but until the important questions are answered,” said the mayor.
And there are some unanswered questions. For example, how many employees are exactly affected and who should then do the work. The Sana Group wants to cut 1000 jobs across Germany. This affects the collection and delivery service, patient escort service, information, ward assistance service, laundry service, archive and module. Sana only wants to keep the cleaning staff. “So far, our requests for talks and our catalog of questions have remained unanswered,” says Kay Eichler, the works council chairman of DGS pro service GmbH.
According to the Sana Group, 58.21 full-time positions and 60 employees in Offenbach are affected. “We requested the documents,” but received nothing, says Eichler. Ten employees had already been laid off in March; their work had to be done by the nursing staff. “We fear that this is exactly what happens now or that an external person is hired who only pays the minimum wage,” criticizes Eichler.
The Sana Group wants to bring the various areas into separate structures and thus promote technical specialization. That sounds like a mockery to two ward assistants who don’t want to be called by name. “I feel like I’m stupid,” says one of them, who has worked at the clinic for 42 years. She takes care of orders and running errands to keep the nurse’s back free.
Lots of hazard reports
“Hands off our colleagues”, demanded Peter Eichler, the deputy chairman of the works council of the Sana Clinic. He reported that the works council had been put on the table in 67 March and 82 in April. “The number of unreported cases is high. Because if I don’t have time or the employer doesn’t react, I don’t write a hazard report, ”said Eichler. It’s a vicious circle that you can only get out of with more staff. “What we are doing here is first and foremost about the health of the employees. That has to end, otherwise there will soon be no more employees in the health service. “
