Handover of the rudder at the district water watch in Würzburg

The BRK water rescue service in the city and district of Würzburg has a new management team. After 16 years at the helm of the district water watch, Bernhard Scheckenbach handed over the office of chairman to his previous deputy Björn Rausch. With his team, he is now responsible for the seven local water rescue groups in the city and district, according to a press release.

Björn Rausch will receive support over the next four years from his newly elected deputies Thomas Remling and Daniel Ostertag. Markus Wosowiecki was confirmed in his office as technical manager. Thomas Scheuermann and Simon Gutbrod strengthen him as new deputies. The youth management of the Kreiswasserwacht will in future be in the hands of Christina Bender and Sonja Krieger.

Use in the fight against the pandemic

According to a press letter, the outgoing chairman Bernhard Scheckenbach proudly reported in his review that the water rescue service had proven its readiness, especially in times of pandemics? whether in the operation of test sites, in logistics or in the crisis team. The water watch was also particularly challenged in the summer of 2020, when many people were looking for relaxation in their local waters due to travel restrictions. At the same time, the swimming pools remained closed for much of the year due to the lockdown. ?? So, on the one hand, people concentrated on the Main and at bathing lakes, on the other hand, we are now missing a whole year in swimming training for children ??, so Scheckenbach’s balance sheet.

According to the press release, there were also successes in the technical equipment of the rapid deployment groups. The district water watch recently put a new lifeboat with bow hatch and a water rescue equipment cart into service. Both came from central procurement in the Free State of Bavaria and replaced old old vehicles. A new device trailer should follow later this year. In Thüngersheim, a new vehicle hall with common rooms for the local water rescue group has also been built since 2019 with a lot of personal contribution from the members.

From the hands of his successor, Bernhard Scheckenbach received a somewhat modified “Seahorse” certificate as a farewell. As chairman of the local group Rottendorf, he will remain with the water rescue service in the future.

The new district water watch line consists of chairman Björn Rausch with his deputies Thomas Remling and Daniel Ostertag, technical director Markus Wosowiecki with his deputies Thomas Scheuermann and Simon Gutbrod, and youth leader Christina Bender with her deputy Sonja Kriege.
