The French Elite Handisport Table Tennis Championships took place from 22 to 24 May 2021 in Maizières-lès-Metz (Moselle). The Normans stood out once again, notably with the three titles of Olympic champion Florian Merrien. Despite his fears about his level and the lack of competition during the health crisis, Alexandra Saint-Pierre, native Bois-Guillaume, near Rouen (Seine-Maritime), was totally reassured. She returns from the east with two gold medals in Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles.
Resumption of training in March after injury
“In March, I gradually resumed training after a wrist injury. For the Double, I joined forces with Flora Vautier from Villeneuve-Loubet. We won the title in a not too tough table. On the other hand, in singles, I come out first of one of the two pools of four competitors. In the final, I meet Flora! Teammate the day before, opponent the next day! It’s sport. I win 3-1. This is my first national title ”, relates the champion who took maximum pleasure. “We had to take advantage after a complicated year. I am happy with the work accomplished, with all these hours given during the long months of confinement ”.
Back in training, Alexandra is preparing for a national training camp in early July in Montrodat in Lozère in preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympics and especially international outings. “I want to enter the world ranking. You have to know where I am ”. So see you in Finland in September.
