At the end of January, the Handimat association mobilized in front of the town hall of Bron to demand permanent housing in Nassera Benchergui. Paraplegic, the Brondillante was evicted from her apartment on August 3 following a court decision, after four years of unpaid rent with the lessor Grand Lyon Habitat. A debt that Nassera has however always disputed.
“She cannot find herself recovering in a hotel room”
After a period of homelessness, she was accommodated in an adapted hotel until March 31. She is now represented by Mr.e Aminata Sonko. “I filed a request with the prefect for housing adapted to the handicap of Mr.me Benchergui. I was assured that his file was a priority, ”means the lawyer.
“We support Nassera morally as well as for his administrative procedures, recalls Florence Berrhout-Roques, Handimat social coordinator. We hope that she will have a permanent and suitable rehousing solution. She has two surgeries pending, she can’t find herself recovering in a hotel room…”
