Handball: VfL wins the tournament in Krefeld

VfL Gummersbach won the preparatory tournament for the Bundesliga at HSG Krefeld. In the final, VfL defeated TuS Lübbecke. The Bergische Panther have won their own tournament for the Panther Cup.

First of all, VfL clearly defeated the hosts Krefeld from the 3rd division with 42:26. In the final, Gummersbach won 33:28 against TuS Nettelstedt/Lübbecke, who had been relegated to the first division. The best thrower was newcomer and left winger Tilen Kodrin with six goals. Next weekend VfL will play the Sparkassen-Cup in Gensungen.

In the Max Siebold Hall in Burscheid-Hilgen, the title in the tournament for the second Panther Cup went to the host HSG Bergische Panther Burscheid/Wermelskirchen. The third division defeated HC Gelpetal/Strombach from Gummersbach in the final with 23:18. Eight teams competed in the Panther Cup, including the Belgian first division team Hubo HB, who came third.
