On Friday, the handball team will play the “second friendly” against Kosovo in the Macedonia camp, as part of preparations to participate in the 21st Asian Championship, from January 11 to 25 in Bahrain, which qualifies for the 2025 World Cup, in Croatia, Denmark and Norway, where the team will play two matches in two days. Back-to-back with the same competitor, where they meet again on Saturday, after which they conclude their camp, and the first was against Greece, which the team lost 20-33.
Faisal Al-Tawash, head of the national teams committee and head of the delegation, confirmed that the last two matches in the camp are the last rehearsal before entering the Asian Championship, especially since the team will return to the country on Sunday, and head to Bahrain on Tuesday, where the first match in the fourth group will be against Hong Kong on January 11. Upon return, the technical staff will select 18 players to travel to Bahrain, which is the number allowed to be registered in the tournament, according to the AFC regulations.
On the other hand, the Bahrain Handball Federation is organizing a training course for coaches on the sidelines of the tournament from January 16 to 21. Registration for it is free, and the participant obtains a training certificate approved by the Asian Confederation.
The course includes many topics that address physical preparation and recovery, and how to select talents, managed by Danish coach Rudgaard. It also addresses the technical analysis topic, presented by coach Reda Al-Moussawi, the team leadership topic on and off the field, and the relationship between the technical and administrative staff, presented by coach Ali Al-Anzour. Also, methods of playing in advanced defense and attack plans, in the event of a shortage (6 vs. 5), are presented by coach Adel Al-Sabaa, while Dr. Nabil Taha addresses the focus of mental training and acquiring and training basic skills for young players.
