TBV wants to extend the mini-series against Stuttgart
OWL sports. Next Sunday, TBV Lemgo Lippe would like to extend its mini-series of three wins in a row across all competitions. On the 7th matchday of the DAIKIN Handball Bundesliga, the Lipper team will host the penultimate team TVB Stuttgart in the Phoenix Contact Arena from 4:30 p.m. The TBV is again expecting around 4,000 handball fans in the hall against the Swabians.
With just one win from seven games, Stuttgart are currently running behind their expectations. But even before the season, those responsible for TVB held back with clearly formulated goals. The question marks brought about by the many transfers and long-term injuries were too big. TVB coach Michael Schweikardt had seven “new ones” in the team Preparation to integrate, including royal transfer Lenny Rubin and Nico Schöttle, who was previously loaned out to second division club Hamm-Westphalia. With Gianfranco Pribetic, Bruno Reguart Massana, Achilleas Toskas and Luka Krivokapic, the Stuttgart team also acquired promising talents from abroad in the summer, who can now prove themselves in the Bundesliga for the first time. The team was significantly rejuvenated in the summer, but also has less experience, with Silvio Heinevetter, Adam Lönn, Egon Hanusz and Marino Maric, among others, leaving the club in the last transfer period. The top performers Lukas Laube, Max Häfner and Jonas Truchanovicius were missing from preparation due to injuries. While Laube has now celebrated his comeback, Häfner is continuing to work on his return to the field after tearing his cruciate ligament in February. Bitter: In the league game against Leipzig, Truchanovicius suffered another knee injury after his return and had another operation on his cruciate ligament.
At the start of the new season, Stuttgart suffered clear defeats against SC DHfK Leipzig (24:33) and SG Flensburg-Handewitt (25:39), before the Swabians had a happier ending on their side against Erlangen on the third matchday celebrated their first win of the season (26:25). Low points followed in the home game against Wetzlar (23:26) and in the early exit in the DHB Cup against the TBV’s upcoming opponents, second division team HSC 2000 Coburg (22:25). “Stuttgart certainly didn’t start the season well in terms of points, but they are definitely a team that is very unpleasant to play against and has a lot of individual quality,” says Kehrmann, noting that the table is not meaningful at this early point in the season. “In defense they are very physical in the 6-0 group. We’ll have to show a lot of patience to pull Stuttgart’s defense apart. All in all, it is difficult to prepare for the game because TVB is currently appearing in different constellations due to injuries. Kai Häfner and Lenny Rubin are definitely influential in the offensive game – and special attention also needs to be paid to the axis around the pivots. Ultimately it will be about putting our own performance on the record. “We want to put Stuttgart under pressure from the first moment and play forward with a lot of speed,” the Lemgo coach has already prepared a match plan.
The direct clashes between the TBV and the TVB have always brought tension in the past. The Lemgoers won three of the last five games and had to accept defeat twice. In front of their home crowd, TBV last lost a point in the league against Stuttgart in May 2017 (24:24).
The match on Sunday will be led by the referee team Marcus Hurst and Mirko Krag. Over 3,800 tickets had already been sold in advance by Friday morning, so a crowd of over 4,000 fans can once again be expected. “I hope that our fans will support us again on Sunday and honor my team’s achievements over the last few weeks with a full hall. It will definitely be a hot duel!” says Kehrmann, looking forward to a great backdrop. Tickets are still available at all known ticket offices and in the online ticket shop. Dyn will also broadcast the encounter live from 4:15 p.m.
