Fifteen out of fifteen: the Parisian handball players continued their flawless performance in the French Championship by winning on the road to Chartres 39 to 29, Saturday during the 17th day of Starligue.
With 30 points on the clock out of 30 possible, the six-fold reigning French champions consolidate their place at the top of the standings, with six points ahead of their first pursuer, Montpellier, who however has one match less (24 points, 14 matches play).
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many Starligue matches have been postponed and have not yet been rescheduled – about 20 out of the 136 matches scheduled at the end of the 17th day played this weekend.
Elohim Prandi in Olympic form
On Saturday in Chartres, PSG took control fairly quickly, before the 5th minute, and was able to take control.
Left-back Elohim Prandi ended the match with 11 goals (for a single failure), a sign that his right shoulder injury which deprived him of the 2021 World Cup in Egypt in January is behind him. Bodes well for three weeks before the Olympic qualifying tournament (March 12-14) for the French team.
Raul Gonzalez’s players will play three times next week, with two big tests in the Champions League, Tuesday in Coubertin against the Poles of Kielce, leader of their C1 group, then a trip to Germany in Flensburg (2nd) on Thursday, before moving to Istres in eight days in Starligue.
The 17th day of Starligue ends Sunday (5:00 p.m.) with the poster between Nantes (5th, 17 points) and Aix (4th, 21 points). The two teams will play their 13th game of the season at the H Arena in Nantes.
