Krefeld The upper division handball team Adler Koenigshof had to admit defeat when second in the table, Bergischer HC II. Marius Timofte’s team lost 27:38 (12:17) in Solingen. The most successful goalscorer for the Adler was once again Sebastian Bartmann with ten goals.
(maha) “In the first half we managed to catch up from a five-goal deficit and reduce it to one goal,” reported Bartmann. Between the 17th and 20th minute, the Adler closed the gap from 6:11 to 10:11. But after a break by the former national player Mirko Bernau, the BHC II-Express rolled on and extended the lead again to 17:12 by the half-time break. “Being twice the man before the break robbed us of a lot of strength,” explains Bartmann. After the break, BHC II quickly pulled away to 21:12.

The Adler will continue on Saturday at HSG Hiesfeld/Aldenrade. On Tuesday there will be a derby against TV Oppum in the Königshof sports hall. The city duel has already been postponed twice because of Corona. Overall, the eagles have to complete a mammoth program in March due to the pandemic. With the games already played against Gladbach and at Bergisches HC II, a total of seven games are scheduled for the Timofte team in March.

“I hope that we can repeat the performance from the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach at HSG Hiesfeld/Aldenrade on Saturday. We reckon we have a good chance of taking something worthwhile there,” says Sebastian Bartmann.
