Seriously injured in a knee, Montpellier winger Hugo Descat will soon have to be operated on and will be out for a minimum of four months, thus ending his season but also four seasons in the MHB jersey.
It’s a real blow for Montpellier. While the Hérault club is now the sole leader of Liqui Moly StarLigue after the setback conceded this Sunday by PSG on the Chambéry floor, he will have to compose for the rest of the season without his international winger Hugo Descat. Injured in a knee and forfeited for the two matches of the French team against Poland in the context of the Euro 2024 qualifiers and replaced in the group by Benoît Kounkoud, the 30-year-old will soon have to be operated on. Having already had to miss the last world championship due to a meniscus operation, the native of Paris returned to competition last weekend on the occasion of Montpellier’s success on the Saint-Raphaël floor. However, the extent of the injury that prevented him from joining the Blues is far too great.

Descat will no longer play with Montpellier
Indeed, according to information from the specialized site HandNews, Hugo Descat suffers this time from a partial rupture of the posterior cruciate ligament of a knee. An operation whose main consequence will be an absence for a minimum period of four months, thus putting a premature end to the season of the player with 41 selections for the France team. Moreover, Hugo Descat will no longer be able to wear the Montpellier jersey, a club he joined in the summer of 2019 after a first experience abroad, at Dinamo Bucharest, for two seasons. Indeed, coming to the end of his contract with the MHB, the native of Paris has already signed until June 2025 with the prestigious Hungarian club of Veszprém, where he will notably find Kentin Mahé, Ludovic Fabregas or even Nedim Remili, who recently arrived from Kielce. But, before this new adventure, Hugo Descat will have to recover from a serious injury.
