Ratingen. “Interaktiv.Handball” missed one of the two fellow contenders in the catch-up game on Tuesday evening in order to possibly shake off promotion to the third division.

The team coached by Ace Jonovski had to admit defeat to third-placed TV Aldekerk in their home sports hall on Gothaer Strasse in Ratingen by 32:36 (13:18). With a win, the Ratingers could have distanced the TVA by five points. Thanks to the victory in the top game, the border countries have now moved up to a minus point (25:9) in the table in two less played games than the Jonovski team. After the home defeat, the lead in the table is gone for the time being. TV Korschenbroich is the laughing third party and is now 30:6 ahead of the interactive team. Handball (30:8) at the top of the North Rhine regional league.

“Maybe we put too much pressure on ourselves. We played with heart, but not enough with head. We can take a lot from the game. We have to look ahead now, improve and remain optimistic. We still have every chance,” said Jonovski after the final whistle. From the start of the top game, TV Aldekerk started the game better, while the hosts struggled. To make matters worse, goalkeeper Denis Karic had to leave the field injured after less than five minutes. The result was a 3:6 deficit (8th), which the Ratingen team followed unsuccessfully over 6:9 (17th) and up to 12:15 (27th). After the guests scored three more goals before half-time, the home side were only able to score once more. So it went into the dressing room with a deficit of 13:18 – a (too) high burden for the second half of the game.

Interactive, led by top scorer Alexander Oelze, tried to turn the fast-paced game around again in the second 30 minutes. But on this day the home side’s game was too faulty overall. Aldekerk used this again and again to score goals and keep the lead. In the 42nd minute the TV was 26:21. But the Jonovski team didn’t give up and fought back over 26:30 (42nd) to 29:32 (53rd). But it wasn’t enough to equalize in the remaining seven minutes.

“Interactive. Handball” against Aldekerk: Büttner, Schmitz, Karic (Tor) – Hadzic (3), Markotic (5), Mentges (2), Stock (1), Sabljic (1), Oelze (15/9), Schäfer, Mensger, Sete, Nuic 4), Ciupinski (1), Koenemann.
