Eulen Ludwigshafen meets German handball champion SC Magdeburg in the 2nd round of the DHB cup. Mainz European javelin champion Julian Weber, who played regularly at Eulen home games when his brother Patrick wore the Eulen jersey from 2015 to 2018, raffled the draw. Cup defender and record champion THW Kiel is a guest in Potsdam in the second cup round, Rhein-Neckar Löwen is a guest in Leipzig. The success: SG Flensburg-Handewitt – Foxes Berlin. The 2nd round will be played on 19/20. October 2022.
The Final Four, the German handball party, will no longer be held in Hamburg in 2023, but at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne on 15 and 16 April 2023.
MAGDEBURG WITHOUT DREAM:
“I am someone who is always close to saying: I want to win every game. But there are also opponents against whom you have little or no chance of winning … If you then make the champions equalize with Magdeburg, then that’s fantastic. We can turn it into a great evening for handball in an Ebert-Halle, hopefully sold out “, replies the Eulen coach Michel Abt when asked if Magdeburg is a dream place. Of course, Abt was also impressed with Magdeburg’s phenomenal march to win the title in 2022. “As I see it from afar, Bennet Wiegert has managed to create transfers for his fast handball again and again that worked like a glove. From that point of view, the championship was almost logical “, says the Eulen coach.
A day of celebration for handball:
Abt expects a handball festival to appear as a guest of the German Champions Cup at Ebert Hall. “Regardless of the result, we will do everything to keep up with our qualities”, underlines Michel Abt, convinced that at the end of the evening everyone can look each other in the eye with a good feeling.
INVITATION TO THE EUROPEAN JAVELOW CHAMPION
“I am delighted that the German champions are on the way. It is simply outstanding,” enthused Eulen CEO Lisa Hessler after the draw. “It’s just great when the best German team comes to Ludwigshafen, one of the best teams in the world,” says Lisa Hessler. All organizational questions about the cup shot should be clarified and posted in a timely manner. An invitation is sure: that of Julian Weber, the European javelin champion who gave owls the fate of dreams.
