The BVB women lost 29:32 (14:20) on Sunday afternoon and missed the opportunity to draw level with the Danes in the group A table. With seven points, the Dortmund women are in fifth place and are therefore still on the playoff course. Esbjerg now has eleven points and climbed to second place, one point behind leader Ferencváros from Budapest.
The best thrower for the BVB women was national player Alina Grijseels with eight goals. The two teams will face each other again in Esbjerg in the second leg on Sunday (4 p.m.).
