Lemgo – Annoying loss of points for Fresh on Göppingen: The handball Bundesliga team gambled away a seven-goal lead at TBV Lemgo Lippe and only ended up with a 26:26 (15: 9). Coach Hartmut Mayerhoffer’s team got the equalizer three seconds before the end from Jonathan Carlsbogard. “That was a significant increase compared to the clear defeat in Berlin, but we just have to be smarter and bring the lead to the finish,” said Mayerhoffer. His top scorer was left winger Marcel Schiller with eleven field goals, followed by backcourt players Tim Kneule (5) and Sebastian Heymann (4).

In the 16: 9 lead shortly after the break, Frisch Auf was clearly on the winning road. But the fifth in the table lost his line, no longer played with enough concentration and also fell sharply in defense. The TBV team of coach Florian Kehrmann managed to catch up goal after goal. In the 46th minute it was 18:18. Mayerhoffer brought back his regular backcourt and again Frisch Auf pulled away – at 25:21 four minutes before the end, the decision seemed to have been made. But Göppingen did not keep a cool head and frivolously gambled away the victory.

“It was our third game in six days, it won’t leave you without a trace,” the disappointed Mayerhoffer asked a little for understanding. That doesn’t change the very annoying loss of a point that could be missing in the battle for fifth place. It continues for Frisch Auf am Sonntag (6.30 p.m.) with the third away game in a row in Nuremberg at HC Erlangen.
