Women’s Tennis Han Na-rae passed the first round of the Australian Open Women’s Singles Qualification.
In the first round of the women’s singles qualifier at the 2021 Australian Open tennis tournament held today (10th) in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Han Na-rae won the world’s 227th place Yulia Grabber a 2-1 reverse win.
Han Na-rae, who is trying to advance to the Australian Open singles finals for the second year in a row, faced 136th place Tsbetana Pilongkova in the second round.
If you win three consecutive victories in the Australian Open qualifiers, you can compete in the finals, which will open in Melbourne, Australia this February.
Han Na-rae first gave out the first set, but in both sets 2 and 3, he broke the opponent’s first serve game, grabbed the start and confirmed a reverse victory in 1.5 hours.
Han Na-rae’s second round opponent Pilongkova was a player who climbed to the quarterfinals of the US Open last year, and in 2010 also advanced to the quarterfinals of Wimbledon.
Pilongkova did not compete in the tournament after Wimbledon in July 2017, and gave birth to a son in April 2018.
After returning to the court last year, Pilongkova showed his potential to climb to the quarterfinals at the September US Open despite a three-year gap.
Pilongkova defeated Kyoka Okamura 2-0 in the first round of the preliminary round.
Han Na-rae was born in 1992, Pilongkova was born in 1987, and Hannarae ranked 116th in 2019 and Pilongkova ranked 31st in 2010, respectively.
The best singles scores in major tournaments were Han Na-rae in the first round of the Australian Open last year, and Pilongkova in the 2010 Wimbledon quarterfinals.
This year’s Australian Open was scheduled to open in mid-January, but was postponed to the opening on February 8 due to Corona 19.
It is customary for the qualifiers to be held in Melbourne, Australia just before the start of the finals, but due to Corona 19, this year’s qualifiers will take place in Dubai, UAE for the women, and Doha, Qatar for the men, about a month before the start of the finals.
