Hammond, you have just joined Libourne, what motivated this choice?
The ambition of the club. I was made to understand here that it was necessary to play at the top of the table. An element that is very important to me since I have great ambitions. Joining a club that has the ambition to play the leading roles spoke to me immediately.
What do you expect to experience for your return to National 2?
I expect to have a full season already. Of course, I’ve never had a full season in National 2. Besides playing time, I hope to score goals, help my team win matches and have a great season. That everyone can be happy collectively.
You are coming off a superb season at Bayonne, with whom you scored 14 goals, were there other clubs that wanted you?
Yes. There were several National 2 clubs and a few National clubs watching me. The choice was late and complicated because we had to agree on all aspects. It wasn’t easy but I’m happy with my decision to join Libourne. It’s a nice project. Since I arrived, it’s been working professionally. Everything is set up to make the players feel good.
Just over two weeks from the resumption of the championship now, how are you feeling physically?
It’s okay, I feel good. As I was a little behind on my preparation, I am gradually coming back physically compared to the others. But I feel good. The staff makes me work well and I find sensations little by little.
What has impressed you the most since your arrival in Libourne?
The professionalism and the means that are implemented so that the players are put in the best conditions. At all levels sincerely! Even the team is of a very good level. There are top players. I really like the way coaches and staff work. It is a whole.

What are the club’s objectives for this 2023/2024 season?
This is a difficult question. But the objective of the club is clearly the rise in N1. Now, we are a team that is promoted anyway… For me, appearing in the very top of the table would already be very good. It would be a good season. But we are aiming for the climb.
And your personal goals?
I don’t like to talk about it, it’s bad luck (laughs). I would like to continue the momentum of previous seasons. If I can cross at least the bar of ten goals and why not more… The more goals you score, the more you will be confident to score others. We’ll see how it goes as the season progresses. I already hope that the results of the team will be positive and then, personally, that I will score.
Can you tell us about your background?
I started in Villiers-le-Bel in U15 before going to Chantilly in U17 National. I then left for Sarcelles for a year to play in U19 before joining JA Drancy, with whom I played with the reserves. This is where I started training with Malik Hebbar’s group, which went up to National a year later. I also went through Saint-Brice during the 2018/2019 season before returning to Drancy. In the summer of 2020, I signed at Montceau in National 3, where I spent two seasons. It was during the second season where I really “exploded” since the first was canceled due to Covid-19.
And suddenly, after two years spent at Montceau, you decide to join Bayonne and you realize this big season. What made it work?
It’s the team already. She was coming out of a big season in National 3 where she finished second. There is a framework that has remained. We did not have a superb season in terms of accounts since we finished seventh. It was a bit complicated. But, personally, I managed to pull out of the game by benefiting from the good work of my teammates and tearing myself away. Quite simply. I gave myself completely.
You signed up for a season + another optional in Libourne, the goal is to know the National with your new formation?
This is the objective set by the club and I would like to achieve it. For me, we already enter the professional world from the National 2. We really enter the heart of the matter. But yeah, that’s my goal. We are here for that and we will do everything to achieve this objective.
