Hammelburger karateka and kickboxer: highs and lows

Karateka and kickboxer from TV/DJK Hammelburg experienced ups and downs. Theresia Müller and Valentina Trost from TV/DJK Hammelburg showed courage when they celebrated their competition debut at the open Lower Franconian karate championships in Grafenrheinfeld. Valentina Trost (Kumite Youth) had to compete with five other opponents in a combined weight class and lost both fights. Theresia Müller (Kumite Youth) only had one competitor in her weight class. The exciting duel with the experienced Lona Morina ended in a 5:5 draw, but since her opponent from Budokan Schweinfurt scored the first point, she was awarded the victory.

Two clear Janson victories to start

Patrick Janson had a perfect start to the competition in the master class (over 30/35) with two clear victories, but luck was not on his side in the performance class. In the first fight he gave up a 7:5 lead in the last seconds and lost 7:8. The Saalestadt player took a 4-0 lead against Noah Sturmer from Budokan Schweinfurt, but received four early warnings due to the referees’ petty interpretation of the rules. After a throw from Noah Sturmer, Patrick Janson received another warning for incomprehensible reasons and was disqualified with a score of 4:2. Third place remained as a consolation.

Podium places for the kickboxers

The TV/DJK Hammelburg kickboxing department brought several podium places with them to the Franconian Saale from the Wartburg Classics in Bad Salzungen. Twelve-year-old Jawad Sabti came second in his weight class. Things went even better for Timo Ulsamer, who secured overall victory in the men’s weight class up to 74 kilograms in a real crime thriller. The coaches Andreas Mohr and Nicolas Thiem were correspondingly satisfied with the performance of their athletes.
