NORRKÖPING. The floor is bathed in champagne and in front of the green fund stands a golden Janogy with the trophy at his feet.
She hugs Matilda Vinberg and states:
– This is what we saw in front of us.
The celebration in her own dressing room has only begun when Madelen Janogy steps into another. The one with plastered walls and gold paint on the benches.
With her are her teammates, the talent Matilda Vinberg and the Bajen icon Ellen Gibson.
The trio takes on the color gold straight away. They start by painting Janogy’s left thigh.
– Should I just dress like this? Vinberg wonders.
The prompt for the icon
Sportbladet’s photographer Pontus Orre nods affirmatively as he puts a bottle of bubbly on the green fund.
Alicia Keys’ “Girl on fire” pours out of the speaker and Janogy sings along. It sets things up for Vinberg, who tries to paint the striker’s face.
– But still then!
Ellen Gibson, the player who made over 200 appearances for Hammarby, helps as she has done all season. Wherever she’s been needed, she’s been there, whether it’s as a lightning-quick centre-back, central midfielder or gold-painter.
– You should also have, says Janogy and refers to the gold colour.
– No, I would just help and paint you, replies Gibson quickly.
– Yes, Gibb! All three must have. We’re going to drive together, props the striker at the same time as Gibson’s thumbs paint her eyelids gold.
And so it will be. When Janogy is finished and steps out onto the green fund, Vinberg and Gibson also fix themselves.

“Perhaps has become weaker…”
The photo flashes start to chatter and Janogy poses with the trophy. It’s heavier than she remembers.
– Maybe my arms have gotten weaker.
Sportbladet can reassure both her and you that this does not have to be the case. When Piteå won gold five years ago, it was a replica that they hoisted into the sky, and it is slightly lighter than the original.
– Haha exactly that, exactly that.
She hangs it slightly over her shoulder.

The door to the dressing room opens and in comes a group of happy teammates led by goalkeeper Moa Edrud. They bring pizza and Janogy is fed a piece, given that her own hands are covered in gold.
– But hey, are you going to pose with tomato sauce in your mouth now? Vinberg wonders.

But no, no tomato sauce in sight and Janogy gets ready to pop a bottle of bubbly. However, the cork is stuck, rock hard.
After a while, Vinberg steps in and helps. The talent struggled with her cava bottle out on the podium earlier and now she faces a new challenge. The bottle is shaken, the thumbs are used to try to push the cork open, but it doesn’t work.
After what feels like an eternity but was actually only about a minute, Vinberg manages to get it up with the help of a sweater. She throws herself out of the picture and Janogy starts spraying.
– This feels fantastic.

Historic day
She raises the cup again while being flanked by the other two and another bottle is popped. There is shouting, singing and dancing. The photo flashes clatter.
It is a historic day after all. It is Hammarby’s first SM gold on the women’s side in 38 years. It is the first time a Bajenspelare has been painted gold.
Who it would be was a given. With her twelve goals, Madelen Janogy has been one of the great golden heroes and it was she who showed the way when everything was to be decided with three goals in two games.
– I’m just going to try to enjoy this, you don’t understand how big it is.
It has been three years since Hammarby moved up to the women’s league. Three years since Madelen Janogy signed for the club.
When she now stands in a soaked dressing room in Norrköping, with bubbles still dripping from the ceiling, she says that this is what she came here for. The belief in a SM gold has been there.
– I’ve still believed in it for a long time, really. It was one of my goals when I signed that I would like to win gold with Bajen.
– It feels sick that we have been on this journey all the way, adds Vinberg, who came to the club at the same time as Janogy.
“Always had the potential”
The one who has been around even longer than that, Ellen Gibson, has already slipped out of the dressing room.
– I think we have always had the potential and a way of playing that is difficult to defend against. We have known that it lies with us. As long as we do the right things, it can go all the way. Then it’s easy to say and harder to do, says Janogy and continues:
– When I stepped out here, I felt that there is nothing else but for us to win.

Next year there are games in Europe for Hammarby, the question is whether Janogy will be there then.
– I want to be in the moment and enjoy now, we can deal with those questions later. Now I will continue to celebrate with the team and the fans.
If team captain Alice Carlsson gets to decide, Janogy will stay in Hammarby and she seems to have some tricks to get her to stay, but what she doesn’t want to reveal.
– No, I keep that to myself, laughs Carlsson.
Maybe that European game can beckon.
– Absolutely. This that we get to see now, I think, is just the beginning. It has gone fast and I think it will go faster. I love Bajen and I think next year will be just as amazing.
Whether it will be with or without Madelen Janogy is written in the stars so far. Those who are currently hiding behind a blanket of clouds in the dark November night.
The one in which Janogy will now dance further out and celebrate. Not just a SM gold, at midnight she also turns one.
