Hammarby is cup champion.
Madelen Janogy decided the final against Häcken in front of a large crowd at Tele2 Arena.
– I’m so fucking happy, we deserve this so damn much, we beat them for 90 minutes and win this damn gold, says Janogy in SVT.
17,623 spectators were on hand at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm to see the national day’s cup final between Hammarby and Häcken.
Not a new audience record, but a real audience party.
Before the match, 19-year-old Häcken star Rosa Kafaji, with a past in AIK, had talked about silencing the Bajen fans.
But Madelen Janogy stole the show.
Two-goal scorer
The Bajen striker decided the match with two goals in the space of just over ten minutes at the start of the second half.
– People usually talk about big players having to step up in big matches and it really shows Janogy here, says SVT’s expert Markus Johannesson.
In the 74th minute, Janogy was replaced to a standing ovation.
The plan stormed
Before that, Häcken’s hope for a miraculous turnaround was extinguished when Bajen’s 19-year-old Japanese Maika Hamano scored a class goal – cross in – to make it 3-0.
That was also the end result.
This was Hammarby’s third cup title.
After the final whistle, the pitch was stormed by lyrical fans.
– We are insanely loyal and I feel that this is exactly how we should play, says Janogy in SVT’s broadcast.
– It means a lot, this was a goal to succeed with the first title. I came three years ago and we have never hesitated. When we do the right things, we are very good.
The hero of the match also had to answer questions about that place in the World Cup squad. Confederation captain Peter Gerhardsson was on site at the arena and checked.
– I feel in incredibly good shape, and have felt it all year. So it’s nice that he’s here and sees the hard work you’ve put in.
