Hamlin, NFL player with heart condition, still in critical condition | Sports Other

American football player Damar Hamlin is still in critical condition in the intensive care unit of the Cincinnati hospital. The Buffalo Bills’ 24-year-old American is showing “signs of improvement,” the NFL club reported Thursday.

Hamlin went into cardiac arrest during Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals and collapsed on the field. After about half an hour of resuscitation, he was taken to the hospital. The match was permanently stopped.

“He is expected to remain in intensive care for monitoring and treatment by his medical team,” said the Buffalo Bills, the club where Hamlin played as a defensive back.

The incident with Hamlin caused quite a stir in the United States. President Joe Biden also took the time to speak with Hamlin’s parents. At Bills Stadium, fans held a vigil for the player.

The championship in the NFL will resume. For the time being, the Bills’ upcoming game against the New England Patriots will also go ahead. No decision has yet been made on completing the aborted game with the Bengals.

Hamlin played college football in Pittsburgh for many years and signed a multi-year contract with the Buffalo Bills in May 2021. Initially, the American was mainly a reserve with the NFL club, but in 2022 he was allowed to start regularly.
