Yesterday Mercedes announced the presentation of the W12 on March 2nd. Less than a month to go before that date, about ten days before the only winter test session scheduled in Bahrain from 12 to 14 March, with the Sakhir circuit also hosting the start of the championship two weeks later. Since the presentation day also involves the pilots, everything suggests that in the coming weeks the reservations will finally be dissolved between Lewis Hamilton and the Mercedes as regards the renewal of the contract between the seven-time world champion and the Brackley team.
Rumour is Lewis is on verge of signing a 2 year deal with @ MercedesAMGF1 with a veto on his team mate. I’d do the same. Actually, I wouldn’t have a team mate at all! # f1

In un tweet Damon Hill he underlined that according to the latest rumors circulating Hamilton will sign a two-year contract and will have the possibility to veto any unwelcome teammate. The world champion with Williams in 1996 stated that if he were in Hamilton he would behave in the same way, indeed, if he could he would not have a teammate directly to be the only one behind the wheel of the Mercedes, a scenario not foreseen by the regulations. If this were the case, however, one of Hamilton’s workhorses would be disavowed, who has always claimed to have never intervened in the negotiations between his team and his boxmate.
