Hamilton denies grid penalty at Mexican GP

It seems a certainty that Lewis Hamilton will still have to change parts of his power unit this season, but the Mercedes camp is trying to let go of this as little as possible.

Hamilton was again confronted in Mexico with the rumor that he would be changing various parts of his engine before qualifying – which could give him a grid penalty of 5, 10 or even 15 places.

Addressing a higher engine position in the first free practice, what also noticed Red Bull team boss Christian Horner, was the reason for that suggestion: “A penalty? No, we just use our different engine modes during the training sessions. There will be no penalty,” said the Mercedes driver.

Whether Hamilton was telling the truth will become clear later today or on Sunday.
