Robert Kubica took advantage of the confusion on the track and the safety car, who in the meantime went to a “free pit stop”. The Pole changed tires for intermediate tires and finished in twelfth position. In the next laps Kubica fought several exciting duels with Sebastian Vettel. The Pole fought off the German’s attacks several times, but finally allowed himself to be overtaken in the first chicane. On lap 49, Antonio Giovinazzi also jumped in front of Kubica.
