Hamburg (dpa / lno) – The Hamburg Towers suffered their first away defeat in the fifth game of the basketball league. At the table leaders MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, the team of coach Pedro Calles lost on Tuesday with 65:86 (35:47) and thus went off the field as a loser for the second time within three days. The best thrower from Hamburg was Maik Kotsar with 14 points.
The Towers quickly fell behind. After eleven points in a row, Ludwigsburg pulled away to 14: 5, which is why Calles took the first time-out after three and a half minutes. Despite the new instructions from their coach, the guests still found it difficult to stop the Ludwigsburgs’ litters. In the second quarter, the Hamburg defense was then more grippy. But for a long time there was a lack of attack, so that the Towers could only post another 14 points on the credit side.
After the break, the Towers proved to be equal opponents for long stretches, but could not prevent the gap from widening to 15 points. With eight points in a row right at the beginning of the final quarter, Ludwigsburg finally made the preliminary decision.
