The Hamburg SPD put up its state list for the federal election on September 26th on Saturday.
No opposing candidates and high approval for all top list positions: This is how Hamburg’s SPD supports its candidate for Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Aydan Özoguz, member of the Bundestag from the Wandsbek district, once again led the SPD’s twelve-place list as the top candidate. It got the best result with 95 percent of the votes.

Özoguz presented Scholz as an experienced helmsman who, even as mayor, had overshadowed blacks and greens. She said: “While Schwarz-Grün raised the daycare fees, Olaf Scholz abolished them. While there was almost no social housing under Schwarz-Grün, we in Hamburg build social housing every year.” Only Scholz can cope with the climate crisis without endangering jobs and industry. “In Hamburg they say to govern properly.”
Annen and Martin in second and third place
Minister of State Niels Annen from Eimsbüttel follows in second place with 89 percent. With 79 percent of the vote, Dorothee Martin from Hamburg-Nord was voted third. She moved up to the Bundestag a year ago after Johannes Kahrs left. The Chairman of the Labor and Social Committee of the Bundestag, Matthias Bartke from Altona, landed in fourth place.
Party leader Leonhard: SPD wants to win all constituencies
The SPD’s goal was given by party leader Melanie Leonhard: to win all constituencies directly. In the former Hamburg mayor Scholz, the SPD has a very good candidate who is “with very good chances” in the race for the Chancellery, said the Senator for Social Affairs.
Mayor Tschentscher praises SPD chancellor candidate Scholz
“Polls or not, we want to win the constituencies here in Hamburg,” said Scholz ‘successor in the town hall, Mayor Peter Tschentscher. “We know better than anyone else that Olaf Scholz is a politician who not only has goals, but who also makes them, who knows ways and implements plans that work.” Scholz had previously addressed the participants in the virtual party conference in a video message.
