Hamburg (dpa / lno) – Hamburg’s red-green Senate starts today (10.30 a.m.) in its three-day deliberations on the 2023/2024 budget. Despite the consequences of the corona pandemic, inflation and the uncertainties caused by the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, Finance Senator Andreas Dressel (SPD) does not expect any major differences. “We are well prepared, templates are undisputed,” Dressel tweeted recently.
However, the Senate has already set global lower costs of up to three percent for the 2023/24 budget – this means that almost all authorities will have to save three percent of their budget, which with a volume of up to 18 billion euros cuts by more than one would mean half a billion euros per year.
The Senate wants to provide information on the results of the budget deliberations on Thursday (1 p.m.). Finance Senator Dressel only takes part in the consultations digitally from home because of a corona infection. “Actually, we wanted to leave Corona behind us with the 23/24 budget, it didn’t quite work out for me, I’ve been positive since yesterday,” Dressel tweeted on Sunday.
