Glatzel replacement hits early
Robert Glatzel was missing from HSV due to injury, but Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer didn’t miss the top scorer: in the fifth minute he hit the right corner with his head after a cross from Miro Muheim. The “Rothosen” continued to constantly look for a way forward and were able to cause danger again and again against high-ranking guests. Marco Richter’s powerful shot hit the post in the 32nd minute.

Magdeburg didn’t have any chances up front against a well-defending Hamburg team, but Xavier Amaechi had the best with a shot wide of the left corner (38′). Then Noah Katterbach finished off a great individual move including a jumper to make it 2-0 (42nd) for HSV, before Davie Selke was able to push the ball through the legs of Dominik Reimann from a few meters after a corner (45th + 1).

Schonlau and Muheim make mistakes
Even after the restart, HSV appeared to be much more powerful and determined, while Magdeburg continued to look very harmless. But Hamburg brought the guests back into the game: first Sebastian Schonlau was the last man to miss out and was shown red (57th), then Muheim caused a penalty against Livan Burcu. Martijn Kaars scored from the spot in the 63rd minute.

The Magdeburgers were in the majority and pressed throughout and the Hamburgers were only able to break free from their grip at times. Despite a lot of crosses, the guests didn’t really get any good finishing touches, so HSV managed to win confidently over time and are now unbeaten six times in a row. 1. FC Magdeburg suffered its first second division defeat of the season (previously four wins and four draws).
